The Ancient Bowden Parish has four medieval churches, although only three are now usable. We are interested in St Mary-in-Arden, Sts Peter and Paul in Great Bowden, and St Nicholas in Little Bowden. We not be studying St Dionysius quite so deeply since it has no pre-Conquest history.
Recent Event: Survey of St Mary-in-Arden Churchyard
Over the weekend of the 13th-14th November the team made an important start in creating a complete and accurate survey of the churchyard of St Mary-in-Arden. A large area to the North, West and East of the church building was surveyed using a resistivity sensor and a metal detector. The results will be posted here as soon as possible.

Current research activities:
- Looking into the archives of the London and Northwestern Railway Company who built Harborough station in about 1850, to see if their workmen dug anything up when building the railway. Also looking through the plans and documents submitted to Parliament with their empowering Bill for clues as to the size and shape of the church yard.
- Comparing St Mary's Norman remains with other local Norman architecture
- A complete survey (including geophysics) of St Mary's church yard to try to establish the scale of the medieval building
