Documents

Much can be gleaned about the far off past from documents that are surprisingly recent. For example, until the enclosures of the open fields in the 1770s Bowden had used the same open field patterns for the best part of a millenium. Other rites and customs common place to our recent forbears have there origins far back in the mists of time. This project hopes to dig as much as possible from what is written and extrapolate that back to better understand the times before such written evidence becomes common place.
